The collection
Abyss occupies Generate's low and slow register — the part of the instrument that most producers either underuse or push too hard into drone cliché. These 60 presets are built for sustained, evolving material: long-form atmospheric beds that shift without obvious repetition, drone foundations with enough internal movement to stay alive across a full cue, and pads that carry harmonic weight without crowding a mix. The collection is organized by type: Atmosphere, Drone, Pad, Soundscape, and Texture. The categories aren't arbitrary — they reflect genuine differences in how each patch behaves over time and how it sits in an arrangement. Soundscape patches are designed for static, non-melodic use. Texture patches are built for layering. Atmosphere and Drone patches are optimized for long-form hold. This is scoring and ambient production material first. If you need motion and attack, Disa-Rayd or Nightfall will serve you better. Abyss is for depth. Full MPE pre-mapping across all 60 patches. Standard MIDI compatible.

Descends into just lovely depths and so much velocity messin' to be had with both MPE, regular keys and MIDI controllers. Also some presets respond well to a Phraser and gentle automation to create exciting landscapes. Really glad I have Abyss in my Generate arsenal: great work Sonalsystem

The presets on offer deliver on the promise of the name of the collection. The sounds truly take you into "the abyss". Well designed, brooding textures, pads, and drones are the mainstay of this collection. They take advantage of Generate's unique sonic footprint to make them rise above being just another bunch of "dark tones". Really great programming and really useful.
As the name suggests, this presets pack evoke the idea of depth and gets the best result out of generate.

Received an email about the ongoing sale and decided to check out some demo videos.... I’m SO glad I did. If you’re an owner of Generate this is a must have collection of presets. They are all simply that good. They all have this organic quality to them, they remind me of real world sounds but mangled in this beautiful way. Full of life and texture!! One of my favorite soft synths just got even better, can’t say enough about them. Instantly ended up in the project I’m working on. Extremely flexible, useful sounds at a steal of a price :)

aesthetic + outstanding + useful
Generate is one of those synths with a very definite sound pallet. No one would mistake it for a workstation that offers a wide variety of sonics. This is not a criticism at all, rather an acknowledgement of it's nature. And Abyss takes the essential qualities of Generate to an entirely new and higher level. I'm looking forward to exploring the MPE aspect of these sounds when my Osmose arrives later this year. But even before then, I find many of Abyss's included sounds to be extremely evocative. While they wouldn't have a home in the jazz/fusion music I produce, they are perfect for the range of "edgebient" music I do. I love layering them with sounds from the OB-E and with binaural tones, producing evolving / trance / meditative tonalities I can't achieve otherwise. I would encourage musicians to explore each sound across the full range of your MIDI controller, as many of them have extreme differences depending on the range they are played in. And lastly, these sounds are very aptly named, a small but valuable level of detail and professionalism by SonalSystems.
The default Generate presets are already awesome. But these presents take it to the next level. I can easily use them without modification for the next cinematic project.
