a lot of great analog sounds in here, and as stated, on the darker end of things. Great pack with a lot of useful and inspiring sounds.
Speaking from the perspective of someone who is a fan of West Coast synthesis, what makes this collection so special is the personality and unpredictability of the Buchla modular system that is imbued throughout every sampled loop in this pack.
The loops constantly twist themselves up and evolve with strange harmonics, metallic throbs, robotic chirps, unstable textures, beautifully alien drones, and other odious oddities indicative of a Buchla system that all immediately spark ideas while also feeling genuinely refreshing amidst today's bland, rather lifeless musical landscape.
What I appreciate most is that the loops within this pack don’t feel static or repetitive at all. The evolving nature of the recordings gives them a truly organic, human quality that makes layering and arranging incredibly enjoyable from start to finish. You can hear the hands-on modular experimentation behind every sound as Sarah Belle Reid has imprinted her own signature sonic stamp.
The sheer amount of character captured within the audio is outstanding. And whether you're working on film scoring, dark ambient music, experimental electronic ventures, or sound-design-heavy compositions, the loops contained within FreqZ & TweakZ will push you to try new ideas, which in my personal opinion, transcends this pack into an apotheotic paragon of experimentation and inspiration.
Sarah Belle Reid’s approach to modular synthesis shines throughout both sides of the Colors bundle. The abstract melodies, shifting harmonics, unstable textures, and experimental atmospheric layers create an incredible palette for composers, producers, and sound designers. The sounds feel futuristic and emotional at the same time, which is a combination that I absolutely love.
The modular synth loops evolve naturally with a concordant type of movement, manipulation, and tension that adds a true human touch while continually sparking new musical ideas. The included drum material adds another layer of versatility as the rhythms feel dynamic and intentionally designed to complement the aforementioned evolving synth work instead of overpowering it. Everything feels cohesive and curated with artistic intention. There is a real sense of performance embedded into every sound, which gives the entire collection an organic character that’s difficult to find in most modern sample libraries.
Overall, Colors is the kind of library that encourages experimentation and rewards creativity the deeper that you dive into it, which cycles back to Sarah Belle Reid's approach in the first place. For anyone who is interested in cinematic sound design, modular synthesis, ambient music, or electronic production where emotion meets experimentation, this collection is an absolute gem.
Obscura feels less like a traditional sample pack and more like opening a door to an unsettling sonic world that’s alive with tension, texture, and atmosphere.
René G Boscio has carefully crafted an immensely calculated collection of sounds that are paradoxically both synthetic and artificial in tone while also feeling authentically organic, lively, and human in execution. There is a peculiar characteristic imparted by Boscio that makes it feel as though the samples within Obscura are living and breathing right alongside you.
This is a collection of sounds that leads to unexpected ideas and immediate inspiration. I found myself building entirely new sessions around loops, textures, or ambiences because they audibly suggested imagery, emotion, and an underlying story to explore, which is indicative of Boscio's deep understanding of narrative direction and pacing — two things that you never see or hear mentioned when it comes to audio sample content nowadays.
The production quality is fantastic throughout each loop, each drone, each texture, and each rhythmic asset while still preserving grit, darkness, an element of genuine unpredictability, and the slight imperfections that make the sounds within this collection so compelling.
If you are a producer, composer, or sound designer who is looking for darker sonic content to create evolving expanses of eerie suspense while also channeling real depth, then look no further. What you have been seeking is here, nestled in the darkness of Obscura.
The Dark Side I is one of those rare collections that instantly pulls you into a creative headspace the moment that you start browsing the sounds. Whether you’re scoring suspense, building industrial soundscapes, experimenting with cyberpunk aesthetics, or creating moody ambient music, this collection delivers inspiration immediately.
The vast combination of dark ambient textures, lo-fi atmospheres, dense drones, and weighty analog drum material creates an emotionally evocative yet incredibly versatile toolkit for composers who are working within the confines of darker musical spaces.
As of me writing this review (in 2026), The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is my favorite sample pack that I've ever stumbled upon. End of discussion. The DFAM-driven loops have a gritty, aggressive personality that is loaded with character and cuts through a mix without sounding sterile or overly processed, no matter which of the three iterations that you are using. Each hit feels authentically alive, raw, and genuinely inspiring to build around.
The Nightfall Serum presets stand out amongst the endless inundation of Serum preset packs that have overly saturated the online market. Many of the presets contained within the pack are deeply musical, expressive to an infinite degree, and atmospheric in the most foreboding sense. The presets instantly spark new ideas for melodies, textures, and transitions.
The loops, drones, textures, rhythms, and presets that comprise this collection all feel cohesive and like they compliment each other — all belonging to the same dark sonic universe.
If you enjoy darker cinematic sound design, experimental electronic production, ambient scoring, or modern industrial soundscapes, then I can wholeheartedly say that The Dark Side I is a profound, unfathomable abyss that is absolutely worth diving into and exploring.
I've purchased a lot of sample libraries and sound design collections over the years. More than I would care to admit. However, SonalSystem's Cinematic Resonance curated collection genuinely stands out as one of the most inspiring purchases I've made in recent memory.
What immediately impressed me was the overall quality, the endless cohesion, and the visceral character of the sample content contained within the collection. Nothing sounds generic or mass-produced. Every loop, texture, drone, rhythm, and atmosphere feels intentionally crafted with a cinematic mindset as well as a real understanding of mood, tension, and sonic storytelling.
The Dark Matter material is incredible for building tense atmosphere. The evolving modular synth textures and drones instantly create emotional depth and cinematic space without needing excessive processing. Syndicate 2123 brings a darker, suspense-heavy energy that works beautifully for trailers, scoring, industrial music, cyberpunk aesthetics, and experimental production. And Ombra rounds out the arsenal perfectly with textured drums and rhythmic material that feels modern, aggressive, and alive.
What I appreciate most is that these sounds don't just “fill space” in a mix or a session — they spark ideas. I found myself writing entirely new compositions simply because a loop or texture immediately triggered inspiration. That is the mark of a truly great sample collection.
For me, an important signal to note was the somatic response that I was palpably experiencing, not only from my brain, but from my body as well while auditioning some of the sample content. This was a unique experience that I attribute as being tied to SonalSystem's commitment to designing sounds that hit at the very core of your humanity.
Whether you're a film composer, electronic producer, sound designer, or someone creating darker experimental music, there’s an enormous amount of value packed into this collection. Cinematic Resonance has become one of those rare libraries that I continually come back to because it consistently helps me break creative blocks and discover new directions in my music.
Beautiful samples, for dark and doom textures
Immediate inspiration for my newly begun indie project. Highly recommend!
Beautiful. Complex. Driving.
The perfect basis for my new mutated beats
Dropped them last minute into my new release
They sat so well!!
Great work,Renê!
I love the sounds! I have used parts of your sounds (mangled) in conjunction with other musical material - in developing a few cues for two films I am scoring. I plan to explore more of your sounds in the future.
These sounds evolve. Exactly what I was looking for.
Very deeply sounds, analogic warmth and digital surgery.
Thanks!
Great set of presets! Really wish you'd make more for Pigments!
still reviewing - but so far so good
As usual, if you are looking for organic drones, weird pads, pulses... this is a must! Sounds mapped to MW and AT, so very expressive!
SonalSystem delivers high-quality sounds for many synthesizers. Among them are gems (in my case, Quanta by Audio Damage) for which you'll find very few third-party sounds.
I especially liked the pad sounds. From beautiful and constantly evolving to otherworldly sounds, it has it all. The sounds in the Voice category are also fantastic.
My conclusion: highly recommended for Quanta owners who enjoy pad sounds in a wide variety of styles.
Easily one of the best packs I've picked up for Pigments. Every preset is great, and has great response to the macros and tweaking. The only bad part is they've only made two packs for Pigments (so far).
Perfect for build drum racks in Ableton with industrial and dark sounds
Without a minute of downloading these samples, I had the framework for a new track.
Five minutes later, the track was “complete” and a new number initiated.
These sounds delve into NIN soundscapes and simply do not give up. Textures. Mutated beats. Jarring melodies.
All your perverse minds could ever wish for.
This presets pack isn’t bad but it doesn’t bring anything that isn’t already in the factory bank
Nice samples as usual, detailed, warm and inspiring.
